Who are the hosts of ‘Morbid: A True Crime Podcast’?
Alaina Urquhart and Ashleigh “Ash” Kelley launched Morbid: A True Crime Podcast in 2018. They were inspired by their own fascination with serial killers, hauntings and other morbid subjects which led them to produce a show about these topics for fun but soon saw it ranking on the Spotify charts.
The duo has a 10 year age gap but their website says they were raised as sisters and have a unique bond.
Aliana
Alaina, an aspiring writer and autopsy technician, has a large collection of serial killer/Medical Examiner books and a passion for scary movies and Halloween. She’s fascinated by Dr. Bill Bass and his Body Farm (check out Morbid Episode 57 for more information on him)., thinks Rob Zombie makes some effective horror music.
The author info says that at 7 years old, Aliana’s mother bought her a copy of “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” and she never looked back.
Ash
Ash is a hairstylist who has a minor addiction to Instagram and reality television. She may appear to be a typical regular girl, but she’s always up for the weirdness. Many thanks to Alaina for introducing her to Jawbreaker, Heathers, and The Craft. She likes all things hair and makeup, as well as witchcraft and horror.
Alaina and Ash have developed their own brand in hosting Morbid. They mix their own humor with the true crime accounts, keeping things from becoming too gloomy. In fact, it’s more likely that fans tune in to hear Alaina and Ash’s personalities than the disturbing tales themselves.
Alaina has been a lifelong true crime/horror/all-things-spooky enthusiast since she was a kid, and she immediately passed her enthusiasm for the creepy side of life on to Ash, who quickly became as addicted.
They realized their shared expertise on serial killers and macabre fascinations was something other weirdos could appreciate, so Morbid: A True Crime Podcast was formed.
